Candidate Bio

Sarah was raised in Connecticut and moved to this area to attend Bryn Mawr College. Upon successfully completing her BA with a major in biology, she realized she loved the Philly-area and was in love with her now husband, Rob. Thus, she moved into West Philadelphia after graduation. After working for a couple years, she started a graduate program to obtain a Ph.D. in Cell and Molecular Biology at the University of Pennsylvania. However, after getting her degree she decided that while she loved science, laboratory work was not her future. She therefore began a new career as a Program Administrator for the American Association for Cancer Research (AACR). In this position, she helps organize the scientific content of several of the AACR's cancer research conferences each year.

Sarah has always had a commitment to helping the community around her. She volunteered extensively at a local hospital in high school, earning recognition from her U.S. Representative, Rosa L. DeLauro. Bryn Mawr College also had several volunteer programs that Sarah participated in, such as Fairmount Park clean-ups. During graduate school, Sarah volunteered at The Franklin Institute. At the museum, she had the opportunity to interact with guests and explain the science behind various exhibits. She and her husband were honored as Volunteers of the Month in 2006. Since moving to Aldan, home ownership has been all consuming! However, Sarah is extremely fond of the borough and the community spirit displayed through such events as the Booster's Christmas tree lighting, Founders Day, and the Fourth of July festivities. Thus, Sarah would like to spend her time here working to improve the community she now calls home. She hopes to be a part of a new Garden Club this year and has enjoyed getting to know people through the ADO. Her husband has even been influenced by Sarah’s joy of helping the community and recently joined the Aldan Townwatch.
